How the Standings Were Determined

The WTDGC 2026 competition consisted of eight rounds in both the Open and Masters divisions.

Swiss Stage – Rounds 1–6

During the first six rounds, all teams competed in a single Swiss field within their division.

Each Match awarded:

  • Match win – 2 Match Points
  • Match draw – 1 Match Point
  • Match loss – 0 Match Points

Match Points were the primary basis for the standings. From Round 2 onwards, Swiss pairings were based on the standings after the preceding round.

After six Swiss rounds, the top four teams in each division advanced to the Semi-Finals.

Final Stage – Rounds 7–8

In Round 7, the top four teams played the Semi-Finals, while teams ranked 5th and lower continued in a Lower-Field Swiss Round, carrying forward their results from Rounds 1–6.

The Round 7 results determined the final Match schedule for Round 8.

The Semi-Final results determined the teams competing in the Gold Medal Match and Bronze Medal Match.

For the remainder of the field, the standings after Round 7 determined the Placement Matches:
5th v 6th
7th v 8th
9th v 10th
11th v 12th
…and so on through the remaining field.

The results of these Round 8 Matches established the final Championship standings.

Tie-Breaks

Where teams were tied on Total Match Points during the Swiss stages, the official WTDGC tie-break procedures were applied, as applicable:

  1. Total Match Points
  2. Head-to-head Match Points
  3. Head-to-head Game Points
  4. Game Points weighted by opponent success (GPWOS)
  5. Total Game Points
  6. Opponents’ Total Game Points (OTGP)
  7. Initial Team Seeding

Head-to-head criteria applied only in the relevant qualification situations and where all teams remaining in the tie had played one another.

The final standings shown on this page reflect the completed Championship, including the Round 8 medal and Placement Matches.
