Varaždin is located 90 kilometers from Zagreb International airport (50 minute car ride) and participants can choose to arrive by private or public transport, or by organized shuttles. Other airports further away, but still reasonably close, such as Maribor, Graz, Ljubljana (all in Slovenia), Rijeka (Croatia), Budapest (Hungary) and Vienna (Austria), could also be used. Travel from airports to the event are at the cost and responsibility of each individual, but the LOC and their partner Tourist agency Vall Tours can provide all the help and book the shuttles on request. The event will take place on two 18-hole Disc Golf Courses specially designed to suit the match play format of the event. Both courses are temporary and will be finalised after team registration closes. You can expect mostly flat courses with some small elevation changes. To get the idea of what to expect you can watch the PDGA EuroTour 2022 coverage of Pro Forester tournament that was filmed by the MDG Media. One of the two courses used for WTDGC will be similar to the one played at EuroTour, while another will be just next to it.  Exlore YouTube content. Read more about courses.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for WTDGC 2022 will be the Lagoda Disc Golf Club who is dedicated to the growth and development of Disc Golf with a strong focus of organising international events that are run professionally. DinkoSimenc and his organising team are committed to creating an amazing experience for all participants of WTDGC 2022.

Having hosted over 80 international Disc Golf tournaments in Croatia and Slovenia since 2012 (and among them the European disc golf Championships 2018, European Team Disc Golf Championships 2021 and one station of the PDGA Eurotour 2022); running a disc golf tourism program with Paige Pierce twice in Croatia (2018 and 2019), the LOC and Varaždin have rich experience with disc golf and are sure to provide an experience both on and off the course which will be centered around delivering an amazing experience and creating a fun atmosphere, with all the essential facilities.

As host of the successful 1stWFDF European Team Disc Golf Championship that was played in Varaždin in August 2021 the LOC had the opportunity to have a preliminary run though, and to gain key insights into the planning for WTDGC 2022. Teams competing there had the opportunity to use one of the courses and to experience the city and surrounding areas. General opinion was that the event was a success, facilities and the course provided great conditions for competitions and the LOC had produced it on a high level.

The WTDGC is proudly supported by the Croatian Flying Disc Federation, the City of Varaždin, the Varaždin City Tourist Board and the Varaždin County.
